Good Points

Pretty well everything. Is just about quirk free.

Bad Points

Heavy to wheel out of the garage. Some riders dislike the linked brakes but I have not found them a problem. Get a gel seat (a bladerunner from Custom Seats) - the standard seat gets uncomfortable after a couple of hours. With a gel seat you can ride all day. A tad thirsty if ridden hard but then it has a big engine and is no worse than the ZZR or Busa and is a lot nicer to ride!

General Comments

The Blackbird build was bullet proof from day one. The final (2008) Blackbirds retained the build quality/reliability of earlier models. The only part which is vulnerable to salt is the forks and these are very easy to protect. It is a doddle to keep this mighty machine in mint condition. I use mine every day - summer and winter - and it remains in unmarked condition. The ZZR 1400 and Hayabusa may notionally be marginally quicker (albeit very few riders would notice the difference), but the Blackbird remains by far the best-planted, most comfortable and still one of the fastest sports tourer on the road. The only bike that looks likely eventually to surpass the Blackbird is the the new 1200 to be launched in the Autumn albeit might prove to be ruined by Vtec (the late fuel-injected Blackbirds took smooth delivery about as far as you could go).
