General Comments

Ok, about a week ago I decided I wanted to put some caramel/golden highlights to liven up my mousey brown hair color. Long story short, I ended up with platinum blond highlights that, mixed in with mousey brown - turned me grey. I'm 18.

Anyway, I bought the Loreal casting creme gloss but, after reading some terrible reviews, bought the permament excellence cream instead in a light brown. it was either that or one shade darker, and as loreal (again, according to reviews) turns out quite dark, i chose the lighter shade.

I was dying my hair at my boysfriends house, so being non-drip and relatively clean was essential. It didn't drip, it didn't run, the smell of ammonia was very strong and made my eyes feel uncomfortable but nothing else.

The packet comes with a pre-dye serum which protects the ends of your hair, the whole point of this product is to permanelty dye your hair whilst protecting it. Having bleached my hair a few days earlier, this was of upmost importance. The serum smelt and felt nice - you do not rinse it.

I had read reviews about dye turning our hair green or grey. I was super-worried about this but the colour I had chosen was 'warm'. I didn't want my hair tinged red either, so finding the right shade felt like a nightmare. I left the colour in for a few minutes short of the required time, as I wouldn't mind the highlights being a few shade slighter than my hair colour.

I blow dryed my hair upside down, and after a little brushing, saw my hair was a beautiful colour: a rich, shiny brown that looked slightly multi-toned. my highlights were completely covered and the shade was only slightly darker than what I wanted, but it looked amazing. My hair felt in great condition, was soft, and my boyfriend loved it.

1 week later, the colour is fading. My highlights at the back are showing through and at my tips, though the roots and front are fine. The packet comes with a fine toothed comb which I didn't use, maybe if I did, and left it on longer, the permanent colour will last longer than a week. I am going to dye my hair again tonight, with loreal. I trust this brand much more than others.

If you're worried about your blond hair turning green, make sure you pick a warm, light brown hair colour, and leave it in for a while longer than stated. You can dye your bleached hair a few days after first bleaching it, though it is best you wait a while. Good luck!
