General Comments
Bought my Cambridge Audio CD5 DVD player from Richer Sounds (terrible service) and used with NAD 302 amp and Tannoy Mercury speakers. Sound is incredible: revealing dynamic and realistic. Classical music is reproduced with excellent fidelity. I'm fond of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and the CD5 reproduced their recording with such amazing clarity I was blown away!
But the player refused to play CD-R discs whereas my cheap old CD bought in Currys in 1988 has no problem. And the service I received from Richer Sounds when trying to get this fault resolved was dreadful.

on 25th Nov 2004I cannot beleive that you thought Richer Sounds service was terrible! My friend bought a CD5 and it broke, so they replaced it. It broke again, so they replaced it. NO hassle at all. I purchased all my HI-FI from there and I received superb service, quality and price.

If you were having problems with it reading discs, why didn't you take it back. Also you said the sound quality and fidelity was excellent, so why for the sound quality rating did you give it 4/10. In my opinion, this is a great CD player for the money, and you should ammend your review.
