General Comments

Hi
I have to say that I am a bit of a mobile phone geek and have been with T-Mobile, Orange, O2, and 3 over the past few years.

For me its all about signal and Vodafone offer the best signal were I live and spend most of my time. I do have to say that there customer service is a bit weak. Example if you want an upgrade, the upgrades department will quote you one price, which may well be more than the new customer rate. Ask to speak to disconnections and you will get another rate, and if you say no to that there is a good chance you will get a call from Vodafone with an even lower rate. You just need to know how to work the system.

I spend a lot of time in France as I have a house there and Vodafone offer a great product called Vodafone Passport. It means that I can call the UK at my standard home rates and pay used 75p extra per call. (currently free until 31st Aug'09). So much better value that anyone else.

They also offer a large range of handsets. (There are a few handset currently on sale that are exclusive to one network. Example iPhone is only available on O2 in the UK, Blackberry Storm is a Vodafone exclusive, G1 T-Mobile etc) So no network is going to offer all handsets.

Word of warning - Just be careful about other peoples advise on mobile phone operators. Everyone wants something different. Some people want smartphones like blackberry, iphone etc. Others want feature phones that are made just to send text and make calls. Some people are happy to pay £50+ per month on a long contract to get the phone then want and then get upset when they can upgrade early. Others want simple pay as you go deals and don't stay long with the same network. Also signal is a big issue. Some people will get great signal with one network and none with another. All networks have weak areas. If you are thinking about changing networks ask your friends what they are using ask them to come to your house and check the signal. Then try and get them to go to anywhere you spend time to check the signal. There is no point in getting a very cheap mobile phone deal if that operator offers no signal in your area. networks will tell you on the internet or over the phone that they offer great signal where you live or work, but they only have a basic idea of this. What your house of made of will effect your signal, also if you are in a valley or on a hill it will also effect the signal.

I found this review very helpful because...It wasn't an all-out moan about the operator. I found the review balanced and insightful
