Bad Points
I shouldn't really have needed to complain; they play fast as loose, getting away with all they can
General Comments
The Mobile Phone Company phoned me in February last year, whilst I was with Orange. They told me my contract was now due to expire and that they could save me money. However, my contract with Orange wasn't up - it still had 3 months to run. When I contacted TMPC to raise this they offered to pay to buy me out of the contract - but it just seemed shifty that they didn't offer this in the original conversation.
They offered me a 3 contract and, true to their word, the tariff was better for me. However, the contract they offered me was for 900 minutes. 3 offer other contracts (500 and 700 minutes as I remember) both of which suited me better as I rarely use more than 200 minutes. When I contacted them to raise this with them they liaised with 3 for me. However, 3 will only allow one change to a contract per month and subsequently wouldn't let me transfer my existing number across until the following month - meaning I ended up paying for both Orange and 3 for a month so I didn't lose my old number.
The overall impression I got was that they were a dodgy bunch who would get away with as much as possible - but would pay up if you called them back to complain.
Also, they keep calling back! I've written this review, having just received a call from them trying to sell me a new phone this year! They tell me my 3 contract has expired - but guess what....? It hasn't yet!

I found this review very helpful because it was similar to my experience, i.e. I was called by them to say that my contract with Orange had expired and that I could upgrade my phone. I assumed they were from Orange, as thay knew such account details and did not realise that they were actually a company called 'The Mobile Phone Company'. I cancelled the contract as soon as I realised, 2 days later, but have now discovered that they've taken a direct debit fee from my account.
