Good Points

The kitchen installer and the gas man were terrific.
The units themselves are really nice.

Bad Points

None of them are interested in our situation and have continually tried to avoid doing anything about the total sense of betrayal we feel in having our kitchen dream ruined.

They don't get back to you once you have paid.
They try to insult your intelligence by making out you have caused the problems.
They really don't give a damn about you once they have got the cash. (Bear in mind, that they take full payment by bankers draft when the kitchen is delivered. You then pay their sub contractors seperately. So, don't do like we did and pay the electrician before you are satisfied - because they won't come back in again to fix anything afterwards)

In short, what should have been one or our dream experiences in having a job well done, has been ruined.

General Comments

We went to Ultimate Kitchen furniture in Warrington. Nice sales staff arranged for a salesman to call. He was very good and helped us to "design" our kitchen.
We paid our deposit and then a site survey was done. Lots of suggestions were made about how to do it and all seemed good.

The ktichen was delivered and the install started by a very skilled workman - who had a hell of a lot of difficulties previously unseen to deal with.

Unfortunately this is where the trouble started.
The electrician who was booked to start the same day, didn't turn up. Nor did he the next day. On the third day, with the woodwork well under way, he arrived. Smashed a whole lot of holes in the wall and made a big mess. He then cleared off leaving wires all over the place and grit everywhere.
When he came back the next monday, he installed the sockets in a very bog eyed fashion. There was rubble dust all over our new hob and units. When I asked if dust covers had been used on our new units he said " Oh yes. Of course". When he went, we noticed the new cooker hood was full of dust and bits of brick. Worse, our new hob was scratched badly.

My parents came the next day to supervise him and constantly had to remind him to use covers to stop the "plaster" he was using going everywhere. When it went on the sockets ights and new oak cubboards he told them not to worry because it all wipes off easily.

He never did wipe it off. Or tidy his mess up left on top of the cupboards (bits of wire, rubble, dust, transormers and cables all loose.)

He was a joke to behold in his attitude and should never be left unattended with anything as dangerous as electricity.

The plaster finish he did is more like breeze block rendering than plastering and he used dust covers with big chunks of old plaster on both sides on our nice new worktops. This of couse scratched them.
