Good Points

1. Signal was fine on the whole, though next to useless in some parts of East London.

2. If (and it's a big 'if') they stick to the deal they offer you the rates are quite low. But frankly the whole '3' experience is so awful I'd rather pay a little extra somewhere else. They fight dirty to try and keep you there.


Bad Points

All of the above. In a nutshell:

1. Appalling customer service. Slow, inefficient, rude, unhelpful.
2. Horribly aggressive salesmen/women.
3. Terminating your contract is a huge ordeal.

I'm amazed they're still in business. Awful, awful ethos. My experiences with 02 and Vodafone were 1,000 times better.


General Comments

Three is THE worst company I've ever had to deal with. Several issues:

1. After 2 years with them I haggled them down to a good renewal deal. They never put me on the agreed rate and despite several follow ups and complaints denied all knowledge that they ever had.

2. They sent me the wrong phone twice. I had to wait over a month to receive the right one. One time the courier they used denied the address existed despite it being an enormous office block that houses over a 1,000 workers. On complaining to 3 the salesman (same guy who gave me the lower tariff which never materialised) said it was my fault. He also said the first phone he sent was perfectly fine and that I was being fussy about the colour (I wanted brown and it was bright pink! I'm a bloke!)

3. When you complain you seem to get directed back to the same idiot who you're trying to complain about.

4. When your contract comes up for renewal you get bombarded with calls. 3 seem to outsource their salesmen. I was getting calls from random mobile numbers all claiming to be 3 representatives. In one week I had over 50 seperate calls. Signing up for the telephone preference service helped.

5. Cancelled my contract early yesterday and asked for my PAC code. I was on the phone for over 2 HOURS. The chap in the call centre repeated himself over and over again about why I shouldn't leave. At first he was pleading, then rude. He told me I was making a huge mistake and that the decision was 'foolish'. Unbelievable.

TIP: If you want to leave 3 the following arguments may help. 1) Say you have already purchased a new contract with another provider. 2) Tell them the signal is terrible in your area. 3) Repeat over and over again firmly: "please provide me with the PAC code, I want to terminate my contract. I need to transfer my number for work purposes".
