Very Very Pushy

Following my experience of buying a property through William H Brown I feel compelled to try and spare others from the misery of doing the same.

Firstly all these people are interested in is selling you a very expensive mortgage, so much so that they will even resort to threats to get what they want. For instance when I telephoned to put in an offer for a property, I was informed that " We will have to recommend to the vendor that he should not accept your offer as you are not getting your mortgage with us!" and " We will beat the vendor down and tell him this is the only offer he is likely to get if you agree to come in and discuss a mortgage with us".

Also, after an offer had been made and accepted for the property, when I quite firmly stated for the sixth time that I already had a mortgage agreed they got all aggressive and started to threaten persuading the vendor to put his property back on the market as they "could not guarantee I was a reliable buyer" even though they knew I had a mortgage agreed with Barclays.

Throughout the whole process they were never once interested in providing a service that could even be described as civil let alone adequate, they were only ever interested in playing both buyer and seller off against each other to advance their own greed by way of lies, pressure tactics and threats.

My advice is to avoid these ' Estate Agents ' at all costs and choose a reputable Agents.

  I found this review very helpful because... I am in EXACTLY the same situation with them at the moment! We are trying to buy in Norwich, and we are being bullied into using their mortgage advisor even though we already have a mortgage promise. They told us they will not advise the vendor to take the property off the market if we don't use their m.a. We are thinking of pulling out because of their attitude and informing the vendor privately what happened.

  we had exactly the same experience. WH Brown in Dereham accepted an offer on condition we spoke to their mortgage advisor. We spoke to him (nice chap, not pushy) and he looked at the figures and decided we were able to put forward a viable offer. He informed his sales colleagues we were good for the offer. They then promptly told us that the vendor wouldn't accept our offer unless we used W H Brown for our mortgage deal.
  At this point we basically told them we'll deal with who we want and if their vendor isn't happy with that then the deal's off.
  Needless to say the vendor accepted our offer...doesn't instill a massive amount of confidence in the estate agent though
