Good Points

Sometimes they have the lowest fare.


Bad Points

Totally unresponsive. They couldn't care less if they caused you any trouble. They make you use the website to make complaints, they send you automated messages, they don't always follow up with a real response, and when they do they send you a message from an address that does not take replies. You are basically on your own. We made you late? We lost your bag? Well, you are not a first class passanger. If you want us to respond you need to pay a lot more.


General Comments

American Airlines is so often late. In my latest trip to South America my first flight was late so I barely made my second flight, but my luggage didn't. They assured me they would "track it", but it turns out they don't know where the luggage is until it arrives at its destination point. In my case it was more than 48 hours late, and as a result I fell behind with the work I needed to do. I asked the airline to reschedule my return flight so I could make up for the time I lost waiting for my luggage, they refused to reschedule free of charge. I fly to South America and Japan often. United and Delta are still offering a lot more amenities (a free drink, free lotion, ear plugs, ear buds, etc.) on international flights than American.
