Bad Points

The outbound, transatlantic flight had very cramped legroom, but return appeared newer and had far better legroom. Food bland and the arrival in USA hot sadwich was good. In-flight entertainment minimal, headphones US$5 and some seats had no view of the tiny display screens.


General Comments

Never flown with US Airways before, having used KLM/NWA and Lufthansa/United before. Worth considering on cost and convenience, but is very basic. Philly appeared to be a far better entry point than others used, notably Washington Dulles. Flew Birmingham, UK to Chicago via Philly recently; very effiecent airport service at Philly and swiftly through formalities. Went to Customer Services (un-badged staffer) and got excellent service arranging seats for return journey: exit row and together. Transatlantic flights very full, ten unfilled seats on return; good for a recently opened route. Cabin crew, the oldest ever seen, seemed overwhelmed, but never missed a request made.
