- Value for money

no cars.....brilliant.
theres a few cycle paths around the perimeter.....good free entertainment for an hour and you could get to see the deer.
fantastic for children of all ages....its lovely to see the little ones with all the wildlife.
good, well equiped supermarket. not over priced either.
noone gets drunk....well not in the main complex.
Bad Points
the spa is becoming very pricey....where we would treat ourselves to two visits we now only do one.
you cant use your money off vouchers to prebook anything....you have to use them at the village!
General Comments
well me and my hubby have just come back from our upteenth time at center parcs elvedon....and cant wait to go back next year!! we LOVE it.
for the last three years we've stayed at the lakeview hotel...the sort of hotel accomodation we expect...good sized room, seating area, plenty of wardrobe space, dvd player and stereo. it was a bonus having free wi fi access as we wanted to stay in contact with our daughter who was holidaying in australia on her own! theres no cooking facilities in the room apart from tea and coffee making stuff but we always take plates and bowls and have at least one "cold" dinner outside on the patio, joined by all the wildlife including the peacock!!
we always book the holiday a year in advance and i was disappointed when we were told that the rapids would be closed throughout our stay....BUT we were offered money off vouchers to compensate.
the swimming complex was a bit boring without the rapids...it wasn't the same at nighttime...but they had improved the white slide and now two people can race down it at one time....great when you have a hubby who INSISTS on curling up like a ball to make an even bigger spash at the bottom!! i was a drowned rat each time but LOVED it.
we didn't go on it but the waterskiing cable run looked great. we went down and watched....it did look as if you needed to be reasonably fit to do this. there were only men on it when we watched and a few said how exhausting it was...and you do need to swim reasonably well as you fall off loads of time.
we dont spend a lot of money anymore here. we tend to just relax either outside our room on the patio or in the swimming complex with a good book. over the years we've tried loads of new things but now just do a bit of table tennis, pool, outdoor and indoor bowls, golf , cycling (taking our own bikes)and our one treat is the spa...great but MEGA expensive!!
it doesn't have to be an over expensive holiday...you DO have to budget though..because, even without children, you can spend a fortune getting carried away. if you've got your own bikes...take them...and if you have your own sports equipment bring them....do a small shop before you come...we tend to book the indian restaurant, which is fairly expensive but we love it....then eat one night in the sports cafe...reasonable meal with a drink can be about £10 each. we then eat in the italian...always does a lovely pizza...again with a drink costs about £10 each.
theres a new takeaway service now...the chinese/ indian set meal cost £13.45 each....we had a pizza one night...cost £7.50 each...20 minute wait.
we decided to book for next year while we were here....OMG...no discount for booking which WAS strange as usually you get 25% off for booking BUT when we looked online the price for next year had GONE DOWN...same week was £50 cheaper than we had paid this year!!
we've therefore booked a two bed comfort villa...we've booked one that we've stayed in many a time by the main lake...its 2 minutes walk to the center which is better for me. its costing us £20 more than this holiday!!
phoned daughter in australia...and all she could say was...wooo hooo center parcs here i come.....
WE LOVE CP'S!!

Centre Parcs say that is was due to refurbishment, I beleive it was due to labour costs at this quiet time of the year. Albeit still great choice in the eating department.
