i have colored my hair with Clairol products for 40 yrs now (omg seeing that in blk and white is a trip and half) but anyway its been my experience to NEVER use same 'word' color as your own or go darker as yes u may just end up with blk hair - but going to a hair dresser to have 'said' dye removed is a little hard on hair but can be done and then taken care of quite nicely with hair care products to soften it and bring it back to beautiful health(not that im saying it damages hair - it will feel dry and will definitely need products). Dont just run in and grab a product - talk to people in store and online or at Clairol itself to get information that u then make your own decision on. Yes i can see hair going Ginger if u have alot of red in your hairi - browns have to be careful of that - so i would strongly suggest u go at least 3 shades lighter than your own OR if u want blonde with no ginger or red in it - strip hair first and add color after - as u may have to do it twice anyway if u have a lot of red in your hair.
I love Clairol products and for my hair they work very well - ive been blonde to red to ginger all my life and my hair if thick and curly and peeps are always saying how nice and pretty it is.
So i will continue to color my hair tillmy death bed - using Clairol products -never purple though roflmao
