I agree totally that the BSA Meteor is a brilliant first rifle. I got my .177 for my 14th birthday 46 years ago. I've used and abused it but it's been nothing but pure joy for myself and for my sons. Sadly times have changed and opportunities to use the gun are not what they were. I never got on to well with the telescopic sight, preferring to use the sight on the gun. In my day I was a crack shot taking on everything from match heads to edges of cardboard, hanging my head in shame at the number of spiders I blasted into kingdom come, lol. I've fired pellets with crossed heads, bits of potato, red paint, all sorts through it but kept it well oiled and always cocked. It's in brilliant condition and still fires well.

absolutely brilliant i am 43 years old and my dad bought me a second hand meteor out of the local paper when i was 10 (1977)it was in perfect condition and still would be had i not broke the rear sight. at the time i could not source one it's a kind of bakerlight material any way i put in a new ox spring and some scopes which i have never been fond of i was taught to shoot open sights. it has lay in the attic for 18 years and only recently when we moved house did i happen upon it again needless to say it has rekindled a spark for my beloved meteor and look forward to sourcing an original rear sight and dumping the scopes.
