General Comments



My wife and I have two cars, the first insured through a different company, and with a no-claims discount. Upon buying the second car, we shopped for insurance and found that direct line offered the lowest rate if a no-claims discount could be applied. The website said something like "a no claims discount can only be applied to one car per household." Any sane human would assume that only one car could be insured THROUGH DIRECT LINE with the no-claims discount, other cars insured through other companies, with or without no-claims discounts being entirely irrelevant. After purchasing the insurance and after lengthy unpleasant and time-wasting dealings with rude and unprofessional Direct Line customer service reps, it became clear that the actual policy was only one car per household could have a no-claims discount FROM ANY COMPANY. Now my options are: 1) pay a large additional fee to make up the difference between a no-claims discount and the normal price; 2) pay a cancellation fee, and waste my time looking for another insurer. Direct Line gets away with my money either way.

I recommend avoiding Direct Line!
