General Comments

Last week I rented a car from Budget Car Renta. By the time I returned the car I felt like I had not received value for money.

Firstly, when I booked the screen clearly laid out a summary of the charges. What was not so clear was the airport surcharge of ' 28. This was equal to half of the rental value and I feel this alone justifies it being displayed with the rest of the charges.

Next was the condition of the vehicle. It was possibly used in a banger race prior to being handed over to me. I ' m used to renting cars and the odd scratch and minor dent here or there. But the front end had a reasonable impact at some point (enough for the bumper not to fit any more), there was a big dent in the top of the bonnet & the passenger side had a scrape up the front wing. You may be thinking I ' m being picky but none of these 3 major faults were marked on the sheet. I had to go back to their porta cabin and wait for someone to come and add the marks to the sign off sheet.

So, I ' ve now been messing around in their car park for 30 minutes and I ' m ready to go. If I wasn ' t in a rush I would have asked for a different car but I needed to drive to Cavan before 5:30. I get in the car, plug in the Sat Nav and spend another 10 minutes familiarizing my self with Spanish. While I can stretch to ordering a couple of beers in Spain it ' s not the language that I would choose for a Sat Nav. Once I changed this to English I was finally able to leave.

When I returned the car I needed to wait for the modified sheet to be rechecked before I could return the Sat Nav to the reception in the airport. So if I ' m doing all the leg work for them by running around checking the car, resetting the Sat Nav and delivering the paper work / Sat Nav to the relevant people so can someone tell me why I ' m also paying a surcharge. Shouldn ' t it be the other way round?
