General Comments

My local authority, London Borough of Havering, insure their public liability with Zurich. I made a claim for my mother-in-law who had tripped on uneven paving, had fallen breaking her arm and her glasses and bruising her face. I was informed that certain protocols had to be followed in this type of case and as time dragged on Zurich informed me that under the terms of the protocol they had 3 months to reach a decision after they had gathered all the evidence. This meant that they could take as long as they liked gathering the evidence. I eventually checked and found that this was not true. They were allowed only 3 months in total to reach a decision. The incident happened in February 2004. They finally notified me of their decision in October 2004, but my mother-in-law had passed away on 4th October 2004, never knowing the result of her claim. My family and I would never use this company ever again.
