Horrible customer service, and did not do what they even said they would do. Do not use this company.


General Comments

I rented both a car and a GPS from Auto Europe Car Hire for a trip to Ireland recently. The GPS was shipped to my home prior to the trip, and I was going to ship it back upon returning from our vacation. When I tried to take the GPS out of the car at Shannon airport, the agent told me to leave it in the car. I told him 3 times I had to return in when I returned home. He continued to tell me to leave it, and since it was the same company, he would take care of it.

Upon returning home, I called immediately and told them what had happened. They charged my charge card 300.00 for the unit, and 10.00 per day until they received it. I had to call Ireland and their office many times before it was even found, let alone sent back. Then it arrived at their office, but they 'couldn't find it'. After it was all over, they finally removed the 300.00 charge, but charged me 90.00 for 9 days late fee. When I complained that it was their fault they didn't have it, they only reduced the late fee 20.00.

On top of that, the unit did not work at all properly. When I informed them of that, they said when it was returned, they would check it out, and if that was true, then they would refund the rental charge. After many calls to them, they said they had found it that day and I asked about the charge for the rental being removed also, and they said it worked fine, no charge would be removed. So I had to pay 70.00 late fee, and 90.00 usage fee, or 160.00 for a unit that did not work properly, and was late because of one of their employees. Do not under any circumstances use this company. This company and their shoddy equiptment was the only sour note in the trip. Find a GPS with any company other than Autoeurope.
