General Comments

Recently, 4U Hosting (4UH Limited) experienced a major setback through no fault of their own.

This was a major power failure at their co-location data centre. I have seen data centres in other European countries having major power failures which caused all their customers to be forced down. This, despite battery backup and dual diesel generators.

I feel that 4U Hosting did an excellent job rallying the troops to move their servers to another data centre.

Initially, on the weekend, I was shocked to see them off-line. My first concern was that they may have been forced out of business. Given the uncertain economic times, this is something one can fear from any business partner. After reading their posting on www.4uhosting.co.uk when they were back online, I understood why they had been down.

My only criticism I had was that they did not provide an automated message briefly explaining the problems. However, I sent an email recommending, that if a problem occurs again which puts www.4uhosting.co.uk offline, they put a recorded message stating the problem which would be played for customers call their hotline.
