Good Points

Original rate was good, not any more, soon dropped very quickly, without adequate notification.


Bad Points

You need to log in on a daily basis to keep track of what they are offering on the your account. The strategy is obviously aimed in the belief that we all live very busy lives and won't bother to do this which is by and large true.

Serious shortcomings when it comes to getting YOUR MONEY back into own your nominated account. You should not have to chase them up all the time.



General Comments

This is my experience, Made a transfer from Online savings account to nominated non A&L bank account. Both my own bank account and A&L are suppossed to be members of the 'Faster Payment Scheme'. ie Same Day Transfer (I wish, still waiting 3 plus days now) Their Terms and conditions which you can download state 'Same Day' if both banks as in this case are members of the Faster Payment Scheme.

My gripes with A&L are that there is no facility (which I think is deliberate) to e-mail them via a secure messaging system re Savings accounts, and the only way of resolving queries ie chasing up YOUR OWN MONEY transfers is via an 0845 tel no that costs you a small fortune. (Answer here is to use Say No to 0870 website, free no is 0800 0566066, option 2 for Customer Service)

    Exactly my problem. I transfered money from my on-line saver to current acount "outside banking hours", after noon on a Saturday. Having been charged a payment review fee for a transaction on the Monday, was informed that the transfer would not have been completed until close of business on Monday. WHAT "BANKING HOURS"? The transaction did not involve a banker in any shape or form (unless their computers are bankers too).
