General Comments

Surely I have discovered the worst aircraft food ever, this from a diner who has consumed an Easyjet tuna sandwich that was so dense I wonder how the aircraft took off with such a heavy load in the galley. So I write with some authority.... or opinion in any case about the dire state of Virgin Atlantic food.

Who would have thought in these days of Jamie Oliver and master chef food endorsements Virgin Atlantic could serve such awful, stale and over processed gunk. Virgin Atlantic food could only possibly be endorsed by the chef who plans the meals on "I'm a Celebrity.." .. but at least jungle food is fresh.

The adults food on the way to Orlando was a dreadful, beef stew that may as well have come from a tin, but worse. The accompanying mash potato seemed to me to be cream of paper pulp, but without the staples. Everything about the meal was cheap, the ingredients at base cost. I doubt school meals ever sunk to these budgets. The bread was stale and dry. The GU pudding was the only redeeming feature. It was quite tasty and just the right portion size. The tea served after the meal was a disgrace to any English man ! Yes, it is difficult to make good tea 8 miles high but even Ryanair and Easyjet manage a decent cuppa.

When I saw my nephews meal, I realised, something has gone badly wrong in the state of Branson. The calorie count for a kid was off scale. Fish and chips, cheese dip with bread sticks, a yoghurt, orange cordial sugar juice drink, a large candy impregnated cookie and a bag of sweets - all in one meal. It was enough to fill an athlete. On the return leg, the kids meal was two chicken breasts ! Two for an eight year olds meal ! Is there a plan to overwhelm the kids with caloires to keep them quiet on the flight?

The return flight meal to Manchester was equally dire. The mushroom risotto was mush. The quality of the rice was poor, it was saturated, the flavours were artificial and the texture was like a pot of baby food. Breakfast was worst of all. A singe white roll, of the worst bread, with a piece of ham. Cheese mush that looked like Martian goo and egg, from no species of bird I have ever seen on this earth.

Overall, its my view, the food was some of the worst ever served. The kids are still to bloated to speak but when they have come down from the sugar rush, Ill ask them.. and let you know what they thought too.

Tim
