Good Points

They did not put pressure on me to get the car fixed there and then and temporarly fixed the car for FREE to allow me to drive home safely with my daughter

Bad Points

They just tried to cash up on me!!!

General Comments

I visited Mr Clutch in CROYDON and I was not impressed!

I reviewed many websites before to go there and I had no problems passing gears, the car was still driving at a normal speed etc... basically the clutch did not have the full symptoms of a judder, split, drag or fierceness.

My problem: a clunking noise and the gear pedal feeling lose + changing gears was not very smooth on the stick but no rackling noise when changing gears. It does not sound like much but at up to £300+ a clutch I wanted to make sure!!!!

It took MrClutch a few minutes to check the car (for FREE as per their website) and I was seen straight away as I got there at opening time. Their verdict: there was a leak somewhere and the pedal was missing a clip so nothing was preventing the pedal to slip over + a worn part had to be changed. The man even said that I was lucky to have made it there!!

5 minutes later, he sent me to the manager at the reception who quoted me an estimate of £100 - £150 to get it fixed (I can't remember which part they said needed to be changed).

Before I left, the mechanic however fitted a temporary clip to prevent the pedal slipping any further (which pretty much sorted the noise straight away) and the guy told me that it would sort part of the problem for now...

I left my details for them to call me back with an exact quote the next day.

As my car had been fully serviced with MOT 4 months before that and not much mileage was made since then, I decided to get back to the garage who did the servicing on the way home... verdict: NO leak, nothing wrong with the Clutch (ALL parts are just FINE) but the car does have a clip missing.... Total cost for the part £0.33!!!!!!! Yes, that is 33 PENCE!!!!! I ended up paying £20 IN TOTAL to get it fixed and re-adjusted!

My baby is now driving better than ever!

I am very disappointed with Mr Clutch but I am glad that they temporarly fixed the problem to allow me and my daughter to get home safely without pressurising me to get the car fixed there and then (which I probably would have done at this point). I think that somehow it really helped for me to go there with my 4 year old daughter!!

Well Mr Clutch, I am not impressed with you but THANK YOU again for the free quick fix which allowed me a safe journey to the garage who fixed my car for £20 cheaper than you quoted me!!! XXXX
