Good Points

Fuel consumption is exceptional. Full tank does me 125km before reserve & never costs more than $5. In Sydney, it's cheaper to run inc. rego than getting the train to work. The bike design is a classic in German Minimalism. Great handling due to light weight & fits through tiny spaces. Headlights are quite powerful. Good suspension. Big tyres. Brakes fine for size. Does elicit attention, which can be good or bad depending on your mood.

Bad Points

When you hit 55kms p/h you look for 5th gear, but it's not there! I've done 90kms p/h but it was downhill with a tailwind & you can hear the little guy straining. The finish of parts can look a little cheap after a few months. There's not even a helmet lock on it which would have cost Sachs so little to include. No extra space to tie anything on, unless you shorten the seat. Pillion passengers must conform to a Kylie Minogue body shape - just don't go up a big hill. Big Bike people rarely acknowledge you when you pull up next to them (hard when you've downsized), they don't look you in the eye, just stare at the weird monkey bike you're siting on.

General Comments

I've had a Madass 125 for about 18 months now.
I downsized from a CB1000 (naked Honda muscle bike) to the Madass. As yet, I haven't met anyone who has gone to that extreme. If you live in a city & commute 30 - 40 mins to work, the Madass is unbeatable. Be prepared to spend an hour a week explaining to people (pedestrians, car drivers at traffic lights, American tourists) what the Madass actually is. "No, it's not electric". When people see it in action they do get quite excitable, sometimes shaking their heads in amazement. As much as I love it, I'm tainted by the knowledge of what a 1000cc bike can do. However, it is the perfect city bike on cost & does allow a bit of snobbery to look down on the average scooter rider.
