General Comments

They make it sound like you get a lot more than you actually do. The make-up was done very well. They gave me a price list showing the cost of the make-up. If I had bought everything on the list it would have come to just short of £179. The 'hand massage' they promised was a quick rub of some cream on the backs of your hands. The nail polish applied began to chip away after only a few hours. The hair styling was very basic as they would not trim or colour unless I paid additional money. I was not prepared to do this. The girl doing the makeover was very good although they were only allowed to do the bare minimum. The sales guy at New ID was very pushy. He assumed I was there to purchase a lot of photos when I only wanted the complimentary one. He tried to persuade me to spend money on photos I didn't want. I stood my ground and told him what I thought of them. This company charges £50 for a 7x5 print. You do not get your photo(s) the same day. They send them to you by recorded delivery and charge you £5. Apparently it's in the small print - I would have read this if I'd been sent any paperwork. As it was it took 2 phone calls to get as much as an e-mail confirmation of the booking. They messed up my first booking so I needed to be sure the'd got it right second time. I refused to pay any postage charges. My photos took 6 weeks to arrive and were sent ordinary first class, presumably because I'd refused to pay for recorded. I waived my refundable booking fee in exchange for an additional photo that my sister wanted. When the photos arrived they were not even mounted, just loose in a wallet. I'm disgusted. I've paid £20 for an unmounted 7x5 photo that would have cost about 25p to produce at home. I'm about to write a letter of complaint. I do not recommend this company to anyone. They reel people in by saying that they are 'competition winners' and then expect them to put their hands in their pockets. My understanding of winning a competition is that everything should be free - these guys obviously have a different opinion. To be avoided.
