Good Points

Theres an entusiastic guy that likes to mow the lawns outside the club apartments everyday!!

General Comments

At first glance the Pontins site, Prestatyn didn't look too bad i had already looked at pictures and read numerous reviews beforehand so i was kind of prepared, we had upgraded to 'club' so we had high hopes that our apartment would be nice, oh how wrong can you be!!! As we got to the gates we were given a window sticker and told to park up in the main car park well finding a space was quite a job, everyone had obviously arrived early! We then queued in reception to hand in our booking info hoping that we may get our keys abit earlier or just maybe they would have the brains to have adopted the same key card system as butlins has....er no!!!! We were told to come back at our check in time to collect our keys so off we went to have a nosey around the place, first we looked around both bars-both smelt awful, pool was basic and as for their so called 50 free activities I counted about 5 and that included the outside park!!! We then took the kids to the indoor playground i was abit dubious about letting them play bare footed in there as they had no socks on, the carpet was black, and the whole room looked like it hadnt had a clean since the 1970's and i'm not exaggerating! After waiting in yet another queue we finally got our keys and after lugging our bags up a flight of nasty looking concrete steps we got into our 'club' apartment, i could have cried it was smelly, carpet filthy everything dirty cooker caked in grease the wardrobes had no doors, luckily we managed to grab a member off staff walking by and asked if we could be moved to a clean apartment we were told the only one free was in the block opposite ( We saw loads empty during our stay!) and that the problem was they had contract cleaners in...er ok?? ( I spotted a cleaner the next day wondering around in an apartment nearby with hoover in one hand and a fag in the other... nice!) im so glad i didnt opt for the 'maid service' anyway so off we went again lugging our bags over to the block opposite (what a great start to whats meant to be a holiday!) It was an improvement but no way near clean and these were the top end 'club' apartments???? I did manage to catch my top on 2 rusty screws that were sticking out on one of the rather weathered balcony boards as i was bringing the bags over, we reported it and someone came and removed them which then made the board loose, how very safe for young children!!! To be honest I would have probably turned round and gone home if it wasnt for the children. I did make a point of checking out one of the classic apartments and i saw hardly no difference apart from the tv being an inch smaller and no patio door, and as for our 'digital' channels yeah if you count a fuzzy itv2,3 dave and 4 music thats not even all the free ones for gods sake, we still had a sofa bed and one bedroom which i think is unacceptable these days for a family holiday park i am aware they do, do two bedroom apartments but they don't do rooms with double beds and why should we pay extra for a proper bed anyway?! Most of our days were spent off site and as for the evening entertainment well it was the same every night the guides were very vague but it was bingo every night till 8pm??? I mean why have it so late? You had no choice but to either play or sit through it as it was the only way to get a table for the rest of the night, then it was watching the bluecoats dance to cheesy songs for an hour and a half then a poor caberet and this got extremely tedious by the third night! Yes they do have another bar but this seemed very samey with boring quizs and scrounging money yet again! We have been to haven, butlins and now pontins and I will never step foot in a pontins again we'll be sticking to butlins in future, its so much better run!
