Ropes have more friction vs the carabiner which is not as good surface as the figure 8, but it worths the expense of replacing the rope often if you compare it with customer satisfaction.
General Comments
We just started replacing all our figure 8 rapelling devices for Black Diamond ATC's, people just love it, they are easy to use, easy to stop, easy to block, and economic. Can use double rope all the time with no problem.Less heavy than the figure 8, similar price. What else can we expect?
