Good Points

Mid range goods at both ends of the scale with branded goods as well


Bad Points

Extremely poor customer service and communication. No direct point of contact if their is a problem. Not a user friendly service for guests, both in store or online. Poor availability of goods


General Comments

we wanted a gift list that you could acess both in store and on-line and of mid price range to suit all our guests so we picked Debenhams, however having got back from our honeymoon yesterday I have decided that using their service was the biggest mistake of our whole wedding and would urge anyone considering using their service to think again!

The website is very difficult to use and even more so for guests trying to purchase items. As many of the other reviews have stated, it is increadibly difficult to add items to the list as you never know whether they are in stock or not. On top of this I have got guests who have purchsed items, been charged for them and then later found out the purchase has not gone through. Ive been told this is because the item was out of stock, however when i went into the store they have loads of the china set we wanted including the plates they keep saying are out of stock. I also registered for free delivery and was told this had been processed. It was only after a relative appologised for not getting more, as she didn't realise the P&P was so much that i found they had been charging guests. I complained and asked them to sort this, but they were not happy to refund the money to those who had already paid and in the end I had to call all the guests who had already bought something, explain the situation to them, then advise them to phone debenhams direct to get the P&P refunded.

On return from honeymoon I have found that one guests has been trying to call the store nearly every day and keeps being told they will call her back, which they havent. They have now told her that they cant add the items she orriginally ordered and paid for onto the list as all items have already been delvered (The items she purchased were processed then removed from the list after she had paid with no explanation). This is a lie as we were not here to collect the items, and had requestsed they be delivered 2 weeks after the wedding as we knew we would be away.

I have tried to contact them myself and have been told they will call me back as everyone is too busy to talk? But Im not holding out much hope for this or for the delivery of our gifts at this rate!

This was just another hassel that was not needed in the lead up to the wededing. In the last few days before the wedding when things are stressful enough as it is I didn't need the extract hassel of having to phone the store nearlt every day to try and sort out more problems. At one point I was asked to call back on the Friday when they would be quieter - I explained I was getting married on the Saturday and didn't really have free time to keep calling them!
