Good Points

Great spec for the price. Work well with GNU/Linux

Bad Points

Battery life is poor. No way to enable dual screen permanently from BIOS.

General Comments

I've had this HP 6735 laptop for around 6 months and it's great. I wiped Vista and put Debian GNU/Linux Lenny on it with no real issues. CPU is quick and with 4GB RAM and 250GB HDD I am struggling to use up the resources.

The ports are well laid out on the side of the unit resulting in less fiddling round th eback of the unit when setting up say on a train.

Wireless, sound, 3D, touchpad and power controls all work excellently in Linux. If you run it in dual head regularly there's no way to enable both outputs by default from the BIOS controls which means you have enable both screens after booting. This is a bit of a pain but only if you run two screens regularly. 3D works perfectly with AMD (fglrx) drivers.

The only real downside I have found is the battery. At best I get an hour and a half out of it (from new), average is an hour. This is less an issue for me as I usually use the unit on a desktop and thus plugged in but I wouldn't recommend this as a laptop for travelers.

Overall it's a great laptop but if long battery life is important to you - get something else.
