Bad Points

It has failed on me after only just expiring on the warranty and now I have to pay to get it fixed. It did have issues freezing after some firmware updates and there was no immediate resolution apart from not being able to watch a few channels on the digi-side. For something that I thought that would be reliable based on the name on the front, this has proved me wrong.


General Comments

Good setup and easy to read EPG on the Sony RDR-HXD860S. Setting the timer was straight forward to record programmes but it did miss one or two in the 14 months that I have had it. Picture quality is not bad and the ability to prolong the HD space by recording in other qualities helps. Easy to record programmes recorded on HD to DVD, but very time consuming and almost 1:1 in time.
