I didn't have to pay for it. HD support. Three tuners.
Bad Points
Size, noise, lights, slower than a dead snail, fuzzy menu text in HD mode.
General Comments
A remarkably poor piece of modern A/V equipment. The V+ box is ridiculously over-sized, as perhaps 75% of the contents is fresh air. Basically this is a hard drive and a circuit board, plus a facia - no need for it to be this size at all. There is no shielding between the ventiation slots on the case and the board inside so dust will build up and kill it sooner or later - any liquid spill will kill it immediately. There is no sound insulation whatsoever, so it is useless for using in your bedroom - when recording it is noisy (constant whines and chittering noises), and in standby mode it actually has more things lit up on the front than when it's on - will light up a room on its own. The user interface is awful - slow, unresponsive, badly designed. It seems designed to do only one thing at a time, and is often totally non-responsive while it carries out a particular task (worst is using the programme planner to look for categories of programmes - it will lock up solid for minutes at a time while it downloads the data). In HD mode the picture itself is very clear but the menus appear to be upscaled and look fuzzy as a result. My 6 year old TiVo outperforms this box in every way except that it has only one tuner and no HD support. Virgin - pull your finger out, license the TiVo operating system and you'd blow Sky+ completely out of the water.
