Good Points

Huge number of destinations, Oneworld alliance, frequent flyer program, very good service in business/first class, airport lounges


Bad Points

Planes used on most domestic routes are old, lame in-flight entertainment


General Comments

The poor reviews on here are exaggerated. I fly over 100K miles on American Airlines every year, and I find their service to be comparable to most domestic carriers (even when I'm not upgraded). Their frequent flier program is very good, and service in first class is consistently friendly and efficient. Like everyone else, I've experienced some horror stories over the years, but more often than not it is due to external factors (weather, airport delays, etc).
