Good Points
The University can offer a degree to those who complete its courses.
General Comments
Open University courses can be regarded as 'mediocre' at best. Expensive and often featuring outdated content, they represent very poor value for money in the field of adult education. The move towards Computer Marked Assignments (CMAs) in recent years has no doubt been successful in maximising profits for the university, at the expense of alienating students, and providing minimal feedback from 'real tutors' marking. A comparable learning experience can be obtained by the simple expedient of purchasing one's own texbooks on a subject and studying them chapter by chapter, and such is the reliance on the OU 'Teach Yourself'model, that this would represent a similar level of self-education, at a fraction of the cost of the Open University's hugely overspriced course material.
