Good Points

Heavy weight, easily readable dial, reliable accuracy, good lume on everything but the second hand, extreme water resistance, comfortable to wear.

Bad Points

Lume could be better on the second hand, though 45mm the face is somewhat smaller than I expected.

General Comments

I have a Breitling SuperOcean Steelfish XP891 which is rated to a water resistant depth of 6600 feet. Obviously, this is a tad bit deeper than I care to go, but it is reassuring to know that if I do they will find a still working watch on my body. The watch is solid and I do mean solid. It weighs approximately 225 grams and is 45mm across. It has a most interesting blue face that will assume slightly different hues depending upon the lighting conditions. The watch, like all models since about 2002, is COSC certified, and mine is quite accurate; perhaps gaining two seconds a day. The band is comfortable and does not pull wrist hairs. WatchTime magazine, in their October 2007 issue, did a performance test on a Steelfish, though not the XP891, and they were impressed with the watch. The one drawback being that their first watch sample's crystal cracked at extreme depths. The second, however, remained intact. I had been seriously contemplating buying a DOXA, but in the same magazine test WatchTime was not overly awed by the DOXA's accuracy. And, when it got right down to it, I preferred the Breitling's style and heft over the DOXA. This is a quality watch, something that one can hand on down to his son, which I one day will.
