Good Points

The Keyboard Layout.
The screen display.
Ports.
Runs very quietly.


Bad Points

Relatively low hard-drive capacity.
Speakers can be a bit quiet.
Poor battery life.
Hard to expand RAM.


General Comments

The Advent 7109b is a good laptop and great value for money. Good screen with brightness controls. However, I experienced poor battery life with it. I expanded the hard-drive to 250gb recently, and was impressed by how easy it was to do this.
However, when it came to upgrading the RAM from 1gb to 2gb, I was amazed at how hard it was to do this. The empty RAM slot was under the keyboard, and it took a long amount of time to actually pry the keyboard out, and put the RAM stick in. However, the laptop immediately recognised the RAM with no faults at all.

The ports are good, with 3 x USB ports, a PC output, ethernet and a PCI slot.

All in all, a very good laptop, overshadowed with the difficulty in upgrading RAM.
