General Comments

Terrible Service - I ordered a netbook from laptopsdirect. It arrived, and would not stay on for more than 20 seconds. I tried various things to get it to work and finally decided it was faulty.

This is where it got complicated. I called them to be told that I would have to call the Acer Technical Support people to get a reference.

I called Acer and they said they couldn't give me a reference as it was a refurbished netbook.

I called laptopsdirect back to be informed that I'd need to call another number.

I called the second number to be informed that I should never have been asked to call Acer, and I should request an RMA on their site.

I went onto the site to request an RMA, and got no response. I waited a few hours and called the company again.

They informed me that there was a problem with the RMA number generator, and that they'd email me my number.

They emailed me the number, and I had to call again to arrange a time/date for collection.

I did that, and packaged up the netbook along with the recovery disc and everything else it came with.

The courier arrived the next day and collected it. This was in the middle of March 2009.

2 weeks after I returned it, I received a refund for the amount of the netbook. I contacted them to ask about the rest of the refund (delivery & recovery disc) and was informed that I would receive the balance within 5 days. 2 weeks after that, I received the refund for the delivery charge.

It's now 2 months since I returned the faulty laptop, and I am still waiting for the refund for the recovery disc. I eMessage them EVERY DAY, and they do not respond. The last response I received was a 4 weeks ago saying: "this refund has now been processed".

The last eMessage I sent was this morning and I asked them if they have any intention of giving me this refund.

I'm sorry I ever heard the name laptopsdirect, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
