Good Points

Well made, attractive bit of kit and their tone is very good. Value for money seems extremely good. The sound improvement over the cheapo headphones that come with an MP3 player is quite astounding.

Bad Points

At over £100 new, they are not too cheap. Then again it's all relative.

General Comments

Pleasant looking, well made and very good value for money. The headphone industry is a minefield and our opinions are subjective. I also think that the true quality of personal items like headphones can be judged by the amount of 2nd hand gear that you find on sale. It usually gives you a good idea of whether or not something is good, then owners don't feel the need to sell them. You don't see many of these for sale 2nd hand!!

My normal hearing in a room is not too brilliant unless I cup my ears and "aim" towards the sound source. I'm not deaf, but at 56 years old, my hearing has not been crystal for a long time and sometimes I miss what people say. (That does have it's advantages sometimes). Anyway, I've found this (ear cupping" makes a massive difference to what I hear and often the clarity of tone. Trouble is, I look a bit of a knob if I walk round everywhere with a hand cupped over each ear, so I've got used to not listening. Trouble is, at 56, I am getting old and, though I can still run and am very active, plus I love playing guitar. That generates a lot of noise for my family if I am in a loud mood.
I bought these Sennheiser HD 595s about a year ago along with a superb Boom box, an MP3 player and a set of Ultimate Ear Pro Earphones. Having first tried the Sennheiser, I ended up leaving them on a shelf for months untouched. A few days ago, I thought I would give them a whirl on my Guitar effects machine
which has several hundred settings. They were superb. The tonal clarity is amazing, especially with my more expensive guitars. Unless you are conditioned to very expensive and top of the range audio equipment which cost an arm and a leg. For around a ton, I would recommend these. To me, they represent very good value for money
