Good Points

A couple of the agents were pleasant though ineffective, the US Airways woman at the luggage department in Detroit was helpful.


Bad Points

Terrible customer service and outright deception which I know is dictated from higher above.


General Comments

After getting a good price on a flight from Philadelphia to Detroit with US Airways, we checked into the airport and were waiting at the gate for our on-time 2 pm flight, when it was cancelled, no reason given most other flights were going out, not weather there or Detroit. The line to talk to an agent was very long so we called and were told we had already been put on a flight for the next morning. This wouldn't do as my husband had to be on the job early the next morning without fail. We asked for a flight on any airline out of there before midnight, they proceeded to look and said there wasn't any, and at my questioning, said even if I looked I wouldn't find anything either. I stopped at another gate and asked an agent to look for us and were told the same thing. We looked online and there were many flights on other airlines, all expensive last minute. We ended up grabbing tickets on northwest for $800 for the 2 of us to get to Detroit by 10:30 pm. I sat next to a gentleman on the plane who was in the exact same situation as us, but was wise to them, and kept going up the hierarchy of managers on the phone and was put on the same northwest flight as us for no additional charge. He was able to get them to admit it was congestion at the airport not weather that caused our cancellation, that the agents knew there were other flights available but it costs them something to book them as other airlines don't honor US Airways cooperative transfers. We also had to try to track down our luggage in Detroit which ended up being in another terminal, and no one was able to tell us anything about our luggage any step of the way. I've written to them asking for some compensation but was roundly denied. This most economical flight cost us dearly, we will not fly with them again.
