I feel like I am being looked after. It is just what I expected it to be. Be patient. Do as they tell you. Its not instant. It takes a bit of time to fully recover.
No bad points as yet. You DO have to wait around a bit on the day between having a few more scans and seeing the surgeon before the proceedure. There are other people having the same procedure and we are all there for the same thing. Its all for your own good. You wouldn't want them to rush you in and out. Gives you an opportunity to chat with others and ask them when they come out how it went!
I had my intralase wavefront lasik surgery the day before yesterday wednesday 13th may 2009 at Optical Express Bluewater.
The staff were lovely. The surgeon was great, and the surgical team were very supportive. Thank you to the 'nurse' who held my hand the whole way through and sorry if I hurt your fingers (I was a bit nervous) actually I was a LOT nervous!!!!
The procedure is painless. THey are putting numbing drops in your eyes all the time. There is a pressure on the eye when the corneal flap is made, but the rest is 'all in the head'. No pain at all. Out of the 10 minutes I was in there, the two procedures took about 20 - 30 seconds each eye. Afterwards you are taken to a dark room for about 20 minutes. Your eyes start to water and feel like you have shampoo in them. You see the surgeon who checks all is well and you go home. Sunglasses are a must as you get light sensitivity. It feels as though your eyes are gritty but after using the eye drops over a few hours it all starts to settle. Day one check, little discomfort and back to legal driving limit. Day two, just got up and I can see to type this without glasses and can see the top of my garden (about 200ft). All looking good so far.
NOTE when they say 'dont touch your eyes' SERIOUSLY don't touch them. The young chap before me got the all clear, squeezed his eyes shut and knocked the corneal flap back off and had to go back in to have it fixed. Seriously take notice of what they say, wear your goggles at night and any time you are sleeping, and use the drops regularly.
