Forthcoming with huge funds when needed and quick.
Bad Points
constant staff pressure to "review" your account (yes I know they have to ask".
Product charges rise quickly and become very very uncompetitive ( my insurance premium was twice as much as the highest quote I could find elsewhere) credit card rates became excessive overnight.
General Comments
I've been with the Halifax for 20 years, they've always helped me with advances of cash although not always at the most beneficial rate available but then that was my fault for not shopping around. A few months ago I mistakenly withdrew money from an account (not my current account) and became overdrawn by a few pence and the Halifax charged me £1 per day for a few weeks and would have continued had I not noticed my oversight. They offered to refund it while trying to sell me a £150 per annum account that had no benefits for me. I was so angry I told the cashier I was going to move all my accounts and mortgage and it was only her honesty that prevented me doing so. She said to check all my halifax products and I did... I immediately saved over £700 per year switching my building and contents insurance to a better policy with legal and general. I saved over £300 by changing credit cards from my halifax visa to a virgin card. The halifax is a overpowering selling machine which compels commission hungry staff to constantly tell every single customer that they should have a "review", and their treatment of long standing customers lacks consideration. Having said that they will always give you the funds you need when you need them.
