General Comments
Me and the wife were sent to The Queens Hotel, York by the Ibis as there had been a booking mix up. We were not expecting much and had no idea about where the hotel was or how nice it was before arriving.
On arrival we were impressed, the location is right on the river, perfect for shopping and drinking. The hotel is modern and the rooms are large and very clean.
We were only supposed to be staying for one night but extended our stay as we were so impressed.
The breakfast we had was reasonably priced and possibly the best english breakfast Ive eaten in a hotel, everything was well cooked and the organization for a bank holiday was excellent.
My only downside is that we were located near reception and at the back of the kitchens. So it was a little noisy first thing on a morning (7am). If we'd have booked normally I'd have booked a River view room which are much quieter.
The bar was open even at around 11:30 when we came back from the pub and reception were helpful when we couldnt get into our room whilst drunk.
Im giving this 9 out of 10, it loses one mark just for the noise, had we been in a different room it would be a 10.
