Good Points

Everything was good, the Island Chat newsletter that was put in cabins every day is a great item as it gives lots of info about the next days itinerary, information of onboard activities, and info of the next port of call.

Bad Points

The only downfall in the pool area, there are plenty of sunbeds if you can get them!! there are the usual people who get up at the crack of dawn and put their towels on to claim the bed!! The ship is supposed to have a policy where they remove towels if people are bagging beds, but it was not used at any time. Just a minor gripe, as i didnt go on the cruise to sunbathe, i would go for the beach for that, still thats my view.

General Comments

Island Cruises, Island Escape was my first cruise, in April this year (2009) and i loved it from the word go! I had read some disturbing reviews but they were mostly from 2006. I have no regrets the cruise was great. The staff were 100% helpful, friendly and polite. No communication problem with any of them even though there are some 50 nationalities represented in the crew. They were far more helpful than any staf i have come across on other holidays. Nothing was too much trouble.
The cabins though not fabulous were more than adequate, after all you only sleep and was & dress in them. I was on Emerald deck floor 7 in an outside cabin, so could look out to sea.
The food was first class, i am a fussy eater, but had no problems, plenty of variety to suit all tastes, pastas to salads, carvery - duck, turkey, cheicken, beef, pork, lamb, curry, mexican, etc, the desserts were very varied from cold to hot, must admit i usually had 3 portions in my dish so that i could try them all!!
The standard of cleanliness was excellent, where ever you went, whatever time of day or night there were allways staff cleaning, polishing etc, The restaurant had a strict rule of sanitising your hands before you went in, which in my view was excellent, i did not hear of one complaint of holiday tummy.
The entertainment was top notch, the shows would have looked good in a theatre in London they were so proffessionally presented, and the costumes were georgeous.
