Good Points

PC World generally has adequate parking and situated near a city centre location. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, and I will acknowledge these people in my formal complaint to the company. It is very difficult for me to find any good points when the whole experience was very upsetting and infuratiing.

Bad Points

Customer service apalling.
Lack of sincerity/genuineness/warmth.
Putting the customer first non-existant

General Comments

I visited PC World with the intention of buying a PS3, or at least see what deal they could offer me as Argos was offering a good deal and I did not know who to buy it from as the games pack offer was different from each store.

like others have already said on the site already, the customer service was not very good. Staff were not very friendly and did not appear to be customer friendly. We were told that not all games were in stock, in store, for the offer we had reserved online so we asked if they would give us an alternative game for the same value. The reply to this was a categoric 'NO'. There was no way on earth PC World staff could substitue a game for another that was in an offer. The sales assistant, reluctantly and after much persuasion went to ask who we assumed was the store manager if this could be done and he came and said NO. He told us he didnt want to ask his manager as this got him into trouble. The Manager didnt take the time to come to talk to us personally despite the fact there was no one else in the store.. When we explained the deal at Argos the sales assistant he said that if he was us, he would get it from Argos. At this point he appeared to be happy to be saying anything to get rid of us.

We therefore decided to go and have a look at the deal at Argos.

Now, All i can say is, as always, the staff at Argos were very accomodating and helpful. I do not know what your experience of Argos is, but we were very impressed by their patience and the amount of time/effort they took to show us what the deal was, including showing us customers reviews etc on items. However, I was still undecided.

We then spent about 20 minutes talking about which was the best deal. This was then about 5.45pm Bank Holiday Monday with stores closing at 6pm.

At 5.50pm and 10 minutes before closing we decided to go into PC World again. This time it was a totally different experience. We spoke to another gentleman who was extremely helpful and accomodating. He told us that we could choose other games if the ones in the deal were not in store, something we had been told only an hour or so later could NOT be done. He told us if there was a difference price we would just pay the difference, which we both felt was very fair. As it was nearly 6pm and the store was closing we said that we would have the fifa 09 game. We did not have time to look at the other games on offer. The sale went through at one minute to 6 and they were hurrying us on our way. I asked the cashier who the gentleman was and she said it was the manager.

On the following morning, I contacted PC WORLD and asked them if I could come in to choose another game and not FIFA, as the store manager had said we could. The manager I had dealt with the previous day was off and instead I spoke to the sales assistant who had recommended that I purchased the product from Argos. He was very angry in his tone and stated that on no account would they change the game. The manager I had spoke to was not in that day and the other manager said that on no account should I have been offered that deal in the first place... When I was in store, the General Manager put the blame on the Sales Manager stating that he shouldnt have done that and that a full investigation would be taking place in relation to what he had done. Although I stated I wanted them to merely honour what I had been offered, the General Manager refused but said he would be happy to take the PS3 back and the opened games as the Sales Manager was in the wrong. He kept saying that he had already told the sales assistant earlier in the day that exchanging games was impossible. Despite the fact that this was done!!! Despite my obvious upset, the Sales Manager was not prepared to make amends or pacify the situation. The FIFA was not in stock and I had to wait over 40 minutes whilst they went to pick it up from another store.

I feel totally disgusted with the way they have treated a customer. I had read bad reviews in the past and to be honest, generally take people at their face value, so I appreciate it if you do the same. However, if you have a choice to buy from somewhere else... all I can say is take it...

I think there are some great people who work for PC World. However, their customer service as a company in general, in terms of support and back up is non-existent.

I feel very disatisfied and angry. I will not shop here or recommend it to any of my family or friends. I worry about after care service as the service I received at point of sale was far from satisfactory.
