I recently received a letter informing me that a Marks and Spencer Loyalty Card had been inactive for a period of time and that your company just required confirmation that it was still in possession. I duely telephone your helpline to inform you that I did have the card but unfortunately my wife had died last July. Th operator was unbelievably rude and insensitive to my situation and demanded to know why the card had not been cancelled immediately. I firmly replied that I had a little more on my mind at the time and cancelling the card must have simply slipped my mind.The operator seemed to not accept this nor did she seem to understand the fact that I would no longer wish to have an account with Marks and Spencer if this is the way you conducted business.
I would appreciate it if you could please track back his operator and have an appropriate word. My wife and I have long been ardent supporters and customers of Marks and Spencers and I feel very let down and hugly disappointed.
