I had a truely horrendous experience with Tesco Travel Insurance. We had to cancel our holiday at the last minute as I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly. My Doctor advised me not to travel as we were due to go to Africa in an area where I would need to take maleria tablets. I range Tesco and was told that I could not claim under the terms of their policy.

I suffered an early miscarriage a week later. After the shock had worn off, I rang up to inform them of this and was told that I still could not make a claim.

I sent them a strong complaint letter and received a verbal apology and was told I could submit a claim. However, our flights were booked on Airmiles and the cash element was airport taxes. I was then told I would have to pursue the claim myself as Tesco 'don't refund airport taxes'.

To cut a long story short, I spent the next 7 months trying to get the correct information to the airlines and trying to find out who would help me. Tesco rang me every now and then to see how I was getting on but would not help me at all-they would not even forward documents to the airline on my behalf.

I eventually sent them a very strong complaint letter. They finally paid out but sent me a three page letter more or less saying that it took so long to resolve as I did not provide them with enough information and that I had told them in December that I wanted to close my claim. This is a total lie!

Reading the other reviews on here makes me realise that I am not alone and I have never known such appaling and disgusting service. I would love to make an example of them but just want to move on now and forget about that part of my life. I always felt that they wanted me to give up and made things as difficult as possible for me. The only reason that I got anything out of them is that I refused to give up.

If you are having similar problems with them, do not let them make you give up!
