Good Points

Friendly communicative staff. Very courteous and helpful. I received answers to my questions and concerns sometimes within minutes of posting the question. They did indeed cover the bulk of my medical expenses when I filed the claim which was terrific. Overall this is a very inexpensive policy to purchase and considering I was abroad for 6 months even more so.


Bad Points

The total left me short 43.50 after the deductible was met. Almost a month went by before I received a check to pay the hospital and ambulance company.


General Comments

I was injured in a fall down a flight of stairs in Australia and an ambulance at Ambulance Victoria had to be called. My overnight stay @ St. Vincents hospital consisted of x-rays and I was released the next morning with pain medication for trauma to my lower back. On returning to California I submitted a claim to World Nomads on March 18, 2009. I continued to dialogue with the World Nomads team who needed verification that I had no primary medical insurance. As requested I sent off a signed letter from a notary stating I had no medical insurance other than World Nomads. This never was received and I ended up faxing a copy I had of the signed notary letter. On 4/23/09 I was issued a check which I received on approximately April 30th.
My total medical expenses were 738.18. World Nomads sent me a check for 594.68. There is a hundred dollar deductible on this policy but I am still 43.50 short.
