Service, Assistant Manager, being repeatedly lied to by staff, no soap in the hotel


General Comments

The customer service at London City Airport Travel Lodge was appaulling.

We had a disagreement about the meals and asked to speak to the manager, A member of staff came out and told us he was the manager. But this soon came to light that he was only an assistant. When he said that he had no power to make descisions, we asked him to phone the manager, but he told us she was out of the country and did not have her phone with her,

We then asked him to phone the manager from another branch, he put somebody on the phone, when my wife asked for her surname she refused to give it. I asked the assistant what her surname was and he gave it to me, I did not fully hear what her surname was and replied with what I thought he said.

We wrote to the head office to complain and have recieved a letter from them claiming I was making fun of her surname in front of other guests, I was not making fun, and the only other guest at the counter was also complaining about waiting an hour for her food and it being inedible.

She also told my wife she would end the call for her obusive behaviour. My wife never raised her voice but was told by her that she found it offensive to be told by my wife that she did not want to be "fobbed off", if that is offensive language then I am sorry.

They also had a sign saying they had run out of soap, I hope they had it for their food handling staff

We had our meals refunded, but would never stay at a Travel Lodge again.
