Lost is a really difficult one to review. In some respects its THE most annoying thing on TV. Its got to be the slowest developing plot of any TV series (think '24' but at the popular opposite end of the spectrum in terms of speed of plot!)
Whole episodes now are devoted to going back to a sub-characters past and exploring how they got to where they are - with an entire 1 hour episode moving forward at a snails pace in terms of the overall story
The one good thing Id say about this current series (Series 5) is that they are at least attempting to explain some of the weird and wonderful things we were introduced to in the first and second series. Eg the polar bear.
However, it doesn't feel like Lost has been written how the Star Wars films were written - ie one really long book that was then carved up into 6 films (or is it 9 films?). Lost feels like the first series was written, then when they finished that and it was a succcess the 2nd series was written and so on. The result is it feels like they are trying to justify things now that they didnt think they'd have to justify in series 1 - it just doesnt really flow that well.
Annoyingly addictive though and you do find yourself trying to figure out the weird twists and you're definitely left wanting more
So, its pretty frustrating but I still watch!
