Bad Points

Customer service could care less. Misleading and flat out WRONG information in part application guidance.

General Comments

A few days ago I experienced brake failure which could have resulted in an accident. Almost a year prior, I ordered EBC rotors and pads for my 2002 Bonneville SSEi. The rotors I ordered (EBC-GD7090) were specifically identified as correct fit for 2002 Bonneville SSEi, Gas, Supercharged, VIN "1", which is my application. As it turns out, the product application is INCORRECTLY identified. When I pulled the caliper and removed the pads, I found that about a half inch of the top side of the pad was brand new and the rest was worn down to the backing plate! Puzzled, I thought for a second - how can this possibly happen? The rotor would have to be undersized, but that can't be possible because I always double check my part numbers and orders before installation to make sure I received what I ordered. Sure enough, the part number is "correct." One problem: The web site is wrong. If you go back and look, they call out every engine and trim combination of Bonneville as a fit for every rotor. After checking with GM parts, I learned SSEi has larger rotors (by 1" dia) than the lower trim levels. At 0.5" radius difference, you won't notice this just by looking during installation. This is a potentially dangerous mistake. I have tried contacting Autopartswarehouse.com and their customer service refuses to advance this concern or respond to my emails. Not only do they need to correct their application guidance, but they owe me a set of rotors and pads. I am in the process of filing complaints with the BBB, FTC, and state attorney general's office. I can't believe their customer service just dismisses a serious liability issue like this. Amazing. Hey, if company reps actually browse these reviews. Here is one link to an example of their errors, as of 24Apr09 - http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/search/?N=1697+1 1523+4294964666+9179
