They jack up your renewal premium to see if they can get away with it.


General Comments

I've just had my renewal notice from Saga car insurance. I've had no problems, changed nothing, no claims, no changes. At a time when the inflation rate is negative and the RPI is 2 or 3% they want to charge me an extra 14% for exactly the same thing !!!

    A quick update. I telephoned SAGA to say I did NOT want my policy renewed (in case they decided to do it automatically using my card details) and the young lady asked me why. When I mentioned the 14% increase she said (in one of those "that's not strange" voices) oh, anything between 10% and 30% was normal!! When I explained that was not normal to me she asked if perhaps she could "try and lower the quote for me". When I said I would not deal with a company that behaves like that she asked me if she could quote me for house insurance!! She was sweet and was only doing her job I suppose.
