Good Points

In my one experience of dealing with them I have to say that Littlewoods Direct had no good or redeeming qualities.

Bad Points

Communication issues... they really need to email or telephone when necessary to give updates on the status of orders. Instead they communicate to get you to take out insurance on items you don't have or to get you to buy their deals of the day.

General Comments

I ordered a Nintendo DSi for my son just before the Easter holidays and was told that it would be delivered by the 9th April. This was fine as he'd receive it in time for the Easter break I thought. Anyway, the 9th came and went and my daughter waited in all day for the delivery. Around 7pm I called Littlewoods Direct to enquire as to the status of my order, I was told that it would be delayed until the 19th.

I asked why I was neither emailed or telephoned to be told this and was just given the excuse of them not knowing as it came directly from the manufacturers. I told the lady on the telephone that I was amazed at their service as they had taken the payment from my account as soon as I had placed the order, sent me an email that clearly stated that delivery would be by 9th April, and then I received nothing to tell me that it was going to be delayed.

I was so annoyed so I told her to cancel the order and refund my money. She tried to do this but then told me that the order had gone too far and it was not allowing her to refund the payment. I was told I'd have to refuse the delivery when it came and then wait up to 14 days for my refund to come back to me. You can imagine I was NOT happy.

Anyway the order arrived and again I was not happy as it came on the 13th April and as we were expecting something else from another mail order company, my daughter had signed for the delivery without thinking. On my return home I realised what had been signed for and called Littlewoods again to ask why they didn't advise me that the delivery would be made that day. This of course meant that I would have to arrange to have the parcel collected as it didn't have any packing slips or address labels with it. They arranged for someone to come to collect the next day; my son had a day off school so this was lucky otherwise I'd have had to take time off work just to send it back.

Two days later I had a call from Littlewoods Direct, a courtesy call they called it to see if I was happy with my console (can you believe it), I explained to the person on the phone that no I wasn't happy and told him what had happened. He apologised and I put the phone down. About 10 minutes later a woman called with the same "script" obviously and I asked her if Littlewoods Direct were a joke as they really had no idea about communication. When I needed them to communicate with me they didn't, and when I didn't want them to I received two calls.

It gets better, just the other day I received a letter asking if I'd like to take out an extended service plan for my console at the price of £50 for 3 years.

I just cannot believe it but it gets better. Today (24/4/09) at last I received my refund or part of it. Initially £149.80 was taken from my bank account to pay for the console but only £145.72 was refunded. They have a bloomin' cheek to charge me for the return of the console. I shall be calling them up again tomorrow, how do they get away with treating people like this?
