hermosa1970's Review of James Patterson, Cross Country

There was not enough character development of Alex Cross (he was very one-dimensional in this novel). His relationship with John Sampson is one of the best things in the Alex Cross series and yet in this novel Sampson is barely featured. Overall storyline was boring, definitely not one of Patterson's best efforts.
General Comments
The reintroduction of Kyle Craig at the end of Cross Country by James Patterson was a surprise twist; the next Alex Cross installation promises to be interesting if Kyle Craig is the villain. Alex Cross is a tired character after so long. When it comes to his lovelife, "Cross Country" tells the same old story: Alex is attracted to someone he's thrown together with because of a life and death situation or "case", he does the right thing by not acting on his feelings, upon returning home he questions his current relationship, etc. This particular chase in Africa was just not engaging, I found myself thinking "when is this going to be over?" as I was reading...definitely NOT a good sign when reading a novel!
